Team culture building within organisations

23 August 2024

This week I facilitated a workshop called "Living your highest life priorities". This was an intervention to build teamwork, wellness and objectivity. This was all in the spirit of team culture building.

The workshop comprised me explaining how our highest life priorities arise and why it is so unique to each of us. This started to make the team start to appreciate one another's different behaviours at work more. We completed a quizz to clarify the top 3 highest priorities of each individual. People were engaged and enjoyed discovering things about themselves that they do not generally think about.

When they each shared what their highest priorites were with one another, the appreciation for one another's uniqueness was greater than before we had done this. They wanted to share about themself and wanted to hear about their colleagues. It was a discovery process of getting to know one another in a manner that was different from day to day conversations with one another. This was helping the team culture.

To maximise engagement I taught them how to connect the dots of their top 3 most enjoyed tasks and their top 3 least enjoyed tasks on their job description. I facilitated this to get them to be creative to connect the dots. Some were more successful than others but each of them left with at least one nugget of a strong link to get them to feel more appreciation for their job beyond the salary they get each month.

We also completed an exercise illustrating how to maintain objectivity using their highest life priorities.

Overall, the message was that living your highest priorities is possible whilst at work and can be so with anything you do in your life if you empower yourself with the skills taught to see how everything you do is part of a bigger purpose linked to your highest life priorities.

Throughout this workshop I supported the process with plenty examples of application of what I was teaching them.

The more we can get people to find meaning in job tasks and everything they do in their life, the more we will build not just progressive thinking team cultures but also progressive societies.

I share below some reviews from the participants:

“The workshop was unique and different to what I have previously been exposed to. It was interesting & beneficial to get to know myself better. The workshop felt engaging and did not feel boring.

My biggest learning was  to have clarity of my highest values. I also learnt to link tasks I do not enjoy to my values which in return will help me perform better in work.

Balancing the good and bad of my career goals gives me insight and how I can think about taking steps to always balance my thinking and being an objective individual.”

Mustafa

“The workshop was very insightful and assisted me with determining what my highest values are.

My biggest learning was to track my highest priority which is my health just as I would with my daily duties and assess where I need to improve.

The workshop has helped me think more objectively when challenges or opportunities come my way. ”

Cameron

“This was my second workshop but I have learnt so much about myself and my values. The workshop has made me think deeper about how to navigate through life. There are always two sides, so make sure to look at both.

Thank you very much for sharing what you have learned Rajes. I appreciate your time and the effort you put into these workshops. You have taught me a lot.”

Bianca

“Very informative, inspiring, eye opening. Saw that I am worthy of more.

Saw the world in a different light. The way we perceive things and what things are was very eye opening and I never thought of it in the way you broke it down.

Thank you for making me see another side to things.”

Fazlin

“It was a very informative session. I learnt a lot about myself as an individual. It helped me think deeper and also to look at the bigger picture. It gave me the opportunity to reflect on my life and my priorities.

Thank you! I thoroughly enjoyed the workshop.”

Nabeela

“Was amazing to see from previous workshop how things, priorities, values have changed.”

Biggest learning from workshop: “Connecting your highest priorities with your job duties.”

“I think each department in a company should attend this or these kind of workshops. This has so many benefits within workplace and your life outside work.”

Michel

"The workshop was very informative, helped me learn more about myself that I never knew I have certain characteristics. The fact that we know so little of ourselves and realising that what think and do is completely different."

Ethan
